Cruquius Steam-driven pumping station

Cruquius_Steam-driven_pumping_stationFollowing the storms if 1836, plans to drain the Lake Haarlemmermeer near Amsterdam were made. Three steam-driven pumping stations pumped the lake dry within three years. In 1852 preparations could be made for using the new land. The other pumping stations were modernized. Cruquius became redundant. The steam-driven pumping station became a museum in 1932. It is one of the oldest examples of industrial history in the Netherlands.

London River Boat Tour

London_River_Boat_TourLondon River Boat Tour with pictures of the city, with Tower bridge, the City, Cleopatra's Needle, Westminster Bridge, Big Ben and the Houses or Parliament. Experience the sights and splendor of London. The River Thames is the longest river entirely in England, rising officially at Thames Head in Gloucestershire, and flowing into the North Sea at the Thames Estuary. It has a special significance in flowing through London. Tower Bridge is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London, England over the River Thames. It is close to the Tower of London, which gives it its name. The first Westminster Bridge was a stone bridge that opened in 1750. It was the second bridge to be built across the Thames in the then built-up area of London, breaking the monopoly of the ancient London Bridge. The current bridge opened in 1862. It is a seven-arch wrought iron bridge, which has gothic detailing by Charles Barry. The Palace of Westminster, also known as the Houses of Parliament or Westminster Palace, in London is where the two Houses of the Parliament of the United Kingdom meet to conduct their business.
