The Sukhoi Su-35 (NATO designation: Flanker-E) is an advanced fighter aircraft flown by the Russian Air Force. Developed by Sukhoi and based on the Su-27, it was originally identified as the Su-27M. It was developed to counter the U.S. F-15 Eagle and F-16 Fighting Falcon. The experimental T10-24 was built in 1985. Flight tests took place in 1988. The first prototype was publicly displayed in 1992 at the Farnborough Air Show. Eleven prototypes were built through 1994, with service slated for 1995.
