Jazz chords, pop hooks, unique beats and live instrumentation result in a
sound that is fresh yet familiar. The music leaves you with an emotional
reaction. "We want to create music that either makes you feel amazing or so
depressed that you can't forget you are a human being," Kurtis says with a
smile.
The Hartford, CT-based band members range from 22-24 yrs old and have been
together since high school, thus creating an organic chemistry that is Renata.
Renata has received state and local awards, including "Best Original Rock
Band," "Best Pop Rock Band" and "Best Male Vocalist," and were added to
rotation at CT's largest radio stations, 96.5 WTIC and 95.7 WKSS. Renata has
shared the stage with Lifehouse, Howie Day, Avril Lavigne and Ashlee Simpson,
and headlined a national tour of its own.
Now signed to Virgin Records and currently recording its first major label
full length LP, Renata has enlisted Jeff Blue (Linkin Park, Macy Gray, Limp
Bizkit), Brian Scheuble (Elton John, Dave Matthews, Bon Jovi) and Tom Lord-Alge
(The Rolling Stones, U2, Billy Joel).
