Immanuel Kant was a Prussian philosopher and metaphysician. In the way that most of the early Greek thought was based on Socrates, most of the later German philosophy is based on Kant. This essay, written in 1795, puts forth a plan for a lasting peace between nations and peoples. Kant puts forth necessary means to any peace, and argues that nations can be brought into federation with one another without loss of sovereignty. It’s an interesting fact to note that all 6 requirements for peace Kant pointed to in his essay are being entirely neglected today.
