Improvisation #3

Improvisation_#3This is my third (recorded) improv session, since it's been a while since the last one. Once again, I'm not too happy with the outcome; too muddy in many regards, slurred chords, odd harmonics, but generally decent and good enough for youtube. I listened to Tim Burton and his wondrous music before (Nightmare Before Christmas), so that perhaps gave me some inspiration towards abstract notes and chords. © Me! Improvisation #2

Improvisation_#2I was never really happy with how it sounded and I stored it away. Somehow it got lost on my computer. But! I found it, so here it is. I don't like the way that the entire song is basically just chords, either broken up or not. I need to work on better melodies, themes and motifs... I recorded this in March- which means: my piano was still out of tune. All negative comments are to be blamed on the crappy microphone and the equally crappy camera.

Improvisation #4

Improvisation_#4Another improvisation, after listening endlessly to Final Fantasy songs. This one has slightly less oomph than the last one, but I still like it since it's cleaner. I finally decided to title my improvisations, starting with this one. "Quest for the Truth" somehow fit. I have no idea how to explain, it just fit. After listening to the recording, I noticed that I brought back the melody from previous songs and the motif from Fire and Ice (a student film for which I composed the soundtrack). I really like how this one came out. Enjoy, GermanSeabass http://sebastianwolff.info

Improvisation #1

Improvisation_#1So, I finally decided to record an improvisation on the piano. I've been improvising for over two years, and now I feel confident with posting something. I've played around with this melody for a few days and I think I'll incorporate it into my next movie as the theme/motif. Influences: Yoko Shimomura, Nobuo Uematsu, Philip Glass [after just watching "The Illusionist" and enjoying his score for the film] No, no sheet music available, don't ask (please?)
