Kyle Landry's "Red Skies"

Kyle_Landrys_Red_SkiesMy camera is still broken! Hence, sound only. Ranking currently as number two in a list of pieces composed by Kyle (topped only by "Lonely"), this piece is still wonderful and teaches you a few fine things about composition too! This is an improvisation on the melody and feel of the original recording. In my opinion, the *feel* of a piece is more important than the notes. It's not perfect, neither in regards to correct notes, nor in how closely it matches the original composition. I do not have sheet music. What I had in front of me were the lyrics, courtesy of was Leela McMullen (KrystalEpyon). Kyle Landry's "Lonely"

Kyle_Landrys_LonelyKyle Landry's (kyle556) composition "Lonely" - one of the most inspirational pieces I've heard lately. (Well, in the last 10 months) This is an improvisation on the melody and feel of the original recording. It's not perfect, neither in regards to correct notes, nor in how closely it matches the original composition. I do not have sheet music. What I had in front of me were the lyrics, courtesy of was Leela McMullen (KrystalEpyon). Improv #6 "Faux Jazz"

Improv_#6_Faux_JazzAnd now for something completely different. As much I've always enjoyed jazz, I never got around to learning any. Besides plowing through books and tutorials about jazz theory, tritone blues, boogie woogie basses, and the various scale degrees and their functions (dorian, phrygian, mixolydian, etc)... I just never got a taste. After re-watching The Legend of 1900 (an AMAZING MOVIE, btw), I sat down and played a bit. Here's the collection of mashed chords and notes, endearingly entitled "Faux Jazz." I'll let you figure out the "faux" part... I recorded this about a month ago - again, no video. I only had a microphone on me, and I'm still trying to find a video camera for recording. Piano doodle thing (cc) imoenk on DA: http://imoenk.deviantart.com/art/Piano-76359057 NO sheet music! Improv #5 "Thunderstorm"

Improv_#5_ThunderstormI'm still alive! [t'was a triumph, great success...] I recorded this about a month ago - sorry, no video. I only had a microphone on me, and I'm still trying to find a video camera for recording. This improv turned out a bit more harmonious than I expected, so here you are. It's primarily an experiment; there are "mistakes," if you see misplaced harmonies and very intentional accidentals as such. When I improvise, I tend to imagine a scene, like for a film, then fit the music to the mood of the scene. Here I was imagining a storm, so hence the title. No sheet music!
