Drum warm-up: 16th notes with accents
Thanks to Alan "vyacheslav" from drum-talk.com for this drumming warm-up 16th note exercise, which I am playing at 120 bpm in the video. Here it is:
4/4 Time, RLRL sticking
A. Start by playing each of the following phrases once. (Accented notes are surrounded by stars). The total length of Part A is 4 measures.
Phrase 1: *1*e&a *2*e&a *3*e&a *4*e&a
Phrase 2: 1*e*&a 2*e*&a 3*e*&a 4*e*&a
Phrase 3: 1e*&*a 2e*&*a 3e*&*a 4e*&*a
Phrase 4: 1e&*a* 2e&*a* 3e&*a* 4e&*a*
B. Now play only the first eight notes of each phrase, then repeat. The total length of Part B is 4 measures.
*1*e&a *2*e&a
3*e*&a 4*e*&a
1e*&*a 2e*&*a
3e&*a* 4e&*a*
(Repeat)
C. Finally, play the first four notes of each phrase once, but repeat four times. The total length of Part C is 4 measures.
*1*e&a 2*e*&a 3e*&*a 4e&*a*
(Repeat 4 times)
The idea is to do the whole "cycle" (A, B and C) without stopping in between. Doing this exercise with a metronome will really help your timing!

Drum exercise: paradiddles and displaced paradiddles
Try this one out! I'm playing these at quarter note equals 150 beats per minute, with each stroke counted as a 16th note.
Regular paradiddles RLRRLRLL (4x)
Displaced paradiddles RLLRLRRL (4x)
Different displaced paradiddles RRLRLLRL (4x)
Then string all three patterns together. Now you'll be in 3/4 time:
RLRRLRLLRLLRLRRLRRLRLLRL (4x)
Good luck and keep practicing!

Drum warm-up: triplets with accents
Thanks to Alan "vyacheslav" from drum-talk.com for this drumming warm-up triplets exercise, which I am playing at 120 bpm in the video. Here it is:
Start with 4/4 Time, RLRL sticking
A. (Accented notes are surrounded by stars) Play each phrase once. The total length of Part A is 3 measures.
Phrase 1: *1* trip let *2* trip let *3* trip let *4* trip let
Phrase 2: 1 *trip* let 2 *trip* let 3 *trip* let 4 *trip* let
Phrase 3: 1 trip *let* 2 trip *let* 3 trip *let* 4 trip *let*
B. (Time signature changes to 2/4 time) Play the first six notes of each phrase, then repeat once. Total length of Part B is 3 measures.
*1* trip let *2* trip let
1 *trip* let 2 *trip* let
1 trip *let* 2 trip *let*
(Repeat)
C. (Time signature changes to 3/4 time) Finally, play the first three notes of each phrase, then repeat 4 times. Total length of Part C is 4 measures.
*1* trip let 2 *trip* let 3 trip *let*
(Repeat 4 times)
This gets into some really cool polyrhythmic stuff, and REALLY helps your timing with a metronome. Even though the time signature changes from 4/4 to 2/4 to 3/4, you can still use a metronome because the meter doesn't change (quarter note is still the downbeat). To really make this a challenge use different stickings, like RRLL or RLRR LRLL or RLLR LRRL etc. Have fun!

A funky drum ride pattern exercise
This simple exercise will mess with your brain a little bit, and could help you create some funky ride patterns on the hi-hat or ride cymbal.
Throughout the entire exercise, play a strong backbeat on 2 and 4 with the left hand.
4/4 time, quarter-note equals 112 bpm, play it in this order without stopping:
( R means 16th note with the right hand, - means 16th note rest )
RRR- RRR- RRR- RRR- (repeat)
-RRR -RRR -RRR -RRR (repeat)
R-RR R-RR R-RR R-RR (repeat)
RR-R RR-R RR-R RR-R (repeat)
(repeat entire pattern)
Have fun with it!

Drum exercise: diddles with single-stroke accents
Try this exercise to help you play accents during drum solos. The idea is to play a flow of 32nd-note diddles, but interrupt them with accents. The accents are single strokes, and they are counted as dotted 8th-notes. The exercise repeats every three measures. First, I play all three measures. Then I play each measure separately, four times each. I'm playing this at quarter-note equals 100 bpm.

Drum warm-up: displaced double strokes
Here is a good drum warm-up involving displaced double strokes:
RRLLRRLLRRLLRRLL (repeat)
RLLRRLLRRLLRRLLR (repeat)
LLRRLLRRLLRRLLRR (repeat)
LRRLLRRLLRRLLRRL (repeat)
I am playing these as sixteenth notes, at a tempo of quarter note equals 120 beats per minute.
Thank you, from Dave Moadel
