Here is my first submission for the Live Video Ball. After you're done watching, think of a serious topic and find a creative way to bring it out to the world. There are no rules here, just have fun, and try not to offend anyone! Having said that, this clip was done as a project for the Canadian Film Board, but I never submitted it. I know it's kinda graphic, but this was how I wanted to get my point across, because not too many people focus on the role of the parents. They mostly opt for the bullies at school or around town, or just society in general. I wanted to show what kind of impact a parents' opinion COULD POSSIBLY have on a gay son. I feel like I should clarify this video a bit though. The son is writing a suicide note and thinking about why. We go into his thoughts where he is telling his dad, and the fathers' reaction is what the son thinks will happen. In between we see what he really wants to say and do to his father, but can't, which is when he makes his decision. This is just an example of how we can affect someone by verbally abusing them, especially if they really care about what we think. This is not to say that everyone is going to run out and commit suicide, but it is possible that our words can affect someone more deeply than we first thought. So please, Think First.
