To replace Bill Gates, it will take a group effort.
As the 52 year old, Microsoft founder moves to a part time board chairman position, the company is faced with numerous questions as to how it will move forward.
The main question.
Can a company that relied so heavily on one man’s insight, vision, and work, operate as well in the future?
Gates himself points to a “large group” of employees for big-picture guidance and long term planning.
One of the answers is in what the company calls, “quests”. Where, Microsoft utilizes a combination of common sense customer service, engineering, and research to resolve company issues and shortcomings.
But, since the company’s formation in 1975, the internet and tech world has raised the stakes on the pioneer, Microsoft. It’s recent attempts of the Windows Vista, the Zune music player, and a failed acquisition of Yahoo for $47.5 Billion, have put the software giant behind it’s competitors.
Most skeptics conclude that the company must decide if it should stay with the formula of past success or take more risks going forward?
So as Bill Gates turns the corner to work more with his world health foundation, his company faces a future with out its leader.
