The view from my office is of the Department of National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa, and the flag atop its roof. This video could have dwelt on ramp ceremonies and coffins draped with the Canadian flag. Instead, I hope I have paid tribute to our fallen soldiers by showing that the Canadian soldiers are making a difference in the lives of the people of Afghanistan. On June 22-23, 2001 the U.S. military held a senior-level war game at Andrews Air Force Base called Dark Winter. The scenario of this simulated bio-terrorism drill was designed to "simulate possible US reaction to the deliberate introduction of smallpox in three states during the winter of 2002". Scripted TV clips were made for the drill which "coincidentally" named Iraq and a group in Afghanistan as behind the scripted attack.
