Chad runs into one of the more friendly, laid back and mellow Captains in Soul Society, Captain Kyouraku Shunsui. Neither Chad nor the Captain wants to fight, but Shunsui must since it is his duty, and Chad has no choice either. Chad made a promise to Ichigo, and Ichigo to Chad long ago that whatever one will fight to protect, the other will fight to protect it too. So chad must keep the pact he made with Ichigo and try to get past the Captain and help save Rukia.
