My first video blog, on a subject I've been itching to get my teeth into. As an atheist, I see more and more Christians coming up with the line 'you can't have moral values without God'. Well, sorry, you can.
My angle on the subject is this: animals don't have religion and they don't kill each other, they don't have moral dilemmas, and they live peacefully in social groups. As animals, we humans are exactly the same. We don't need religion to tell us that killing is wrong. An atheist could have written some of the 10 commandments (not the religious parts naturally!) because they are all common sense - don't kill, steal, etc. No-one could argue with those things because they are univerals truths.
A monkey won't steal from its peers because it knows that if it gets caught it will be punished. So which bible did it learn that from?
Sorry if the video seems to be jerky. I actually talked for 18 minutes (I didn't think I could talk that long!) and so I had to do lots of editing, mainly cutting umms and ahhs and other pauses. It's my first attempt, but hey, rip into it if you feel like you have to.
If you're still awake after this epic, leave a comment and rate the video if you can.
