Spanish Moss - Gordon Lightfoot - V78

Spanish_Moss_-_Gordon_Lightfoot_-_V78About a month ago I mentioned to Lynn how much I liked Gordon's Spanish Moss - Lynn answered, you are entitled to a request or two you know , and so it is requested. The scenario that immediately came to mind is that Gordon met a southern Belle while performing in Savannah Georgia. Their relationship might have been for lifetime, had things gone differently ... and, she had a daughter that Gordon called " Spanish Moss"....just a thought that works for me. Hope you enjoy it. Thank you for the request dear Lynn! Spanish Moss (G) Let go darling, (G+) I can feel the (G6) night wind call (G7) (Am) Guess I'd better (Bm) go I (C) like you more than (G/B) half as much As I (Am7) love your Spanish (D7) moss (G) Spanish moss a-(G+)hanging down (G6) Sweeter than the (G7) southern love we've (Am) found (D) Spanish moss, (D7/F#) keeps on following my (C/G) thoughts a(G)round (C) (D) (G) Georgia pine and (G+) ripple wine (G6) Memories of Sa(G7)vannah summer(Am)time (D) Spanish moss, (D7/F#) wish you knew what I was (C/G) say(G)ing (Am) So I'm rolling north (D) thinking Of the (G) way things (B7/F#) might have (Em) been (Dm) If (C) she and (G/B) I could have (Am7) changed it all some(D)how (D7) Spanish moss a-hanging down Lofty as the sycamore you've found Spanish moss, keeps on following my thoughts around Georgia pine and ripple wine Kisses mixed with moonshine and red clay Spanish moss, wish you knew what I was saying So I'm rolling north thinking Of the way things might have been If she and I could have changed it all somehow Let go darling, I can feel the night wind call The devil take the cost I like the way your kisses flow and I love your Spanish moss

Its_hard_to_get_good_help...Now for something completely different! My daughter was trying to help me with a video. But she was unfamiliar with the camera, and this is the outcome of her first attempt. It's hard to get good help these days! But it's good to have a laugh!! LOL!!!

Spin Spin

Spin_SpinThere could be only one subject for this wonderful Gordon Lightfoot song – a spider’s web. You must admit that there’s nothing quite as magical as a web when it’s intricacies are highlighted with the sunlight and the morning dew – except, or course, the web of Love. Spin, Spin (Sunday Concert Plus) 2:29 So fine, so fine the web you spin, I come too close and I'm caught again! In a web of wild design, I do not know what fate is mine! All the day sit and spin, You spin your web and you draw me in. Spin, spin, spin, spin! Well my daddy said when I was young, "Beware the web of love, my son, To be in love is to be insane, Make an old man groan, a young man pain!" All the day, sit and spin, You spin your web and you draw me in. Spin, spin, spin, spin! Then I did grow and the time did fly, Many a true love passed me by. And then you came like a blinding storm, I landed in your web so warm, All the day, sit and spin, You spin your web and you draw me in. Spin, spin, spin, spin! So fine, so fine the web you spin, I come too close and I'm caught again! In a web of wild desire, And I cannot control the fire! All the day sit and spin, You spin your web and you draw me in. All the day sit and spin, You spin your web and you draw me in. Spin, spin, spin, spin! Spin, spin, spin, spin! Miguel

MiguelMiguel, to me, is Gordon Lightfoot's "El Paso" -- the sad story of a hard life, bad decision, untimely death and an everlasting love. It was difficult to find "period" pics for this one, so I must thank Tj for coming to my rescue and providing some of them. That's what made this truly a "team" effort! Miguel (Summer Side of Life) 4:12 Never had much to say He traveled alone with no friends Like a shadowy ghost At dawn he came and he went Through the woodland swiftly gliding To the young maid he came riding Where she'd run to meet him By the garden wall Oh my sweet Miguel I will never tell No one will ever know What I know too well And he'd smile and lay his head on her breast And he'd say I have no fear They're waiting for me to cross the border, to swim the river ‘Cause I've done that before To see my true love's smiling face A hundred times or more Oh my sweet Miguel she cried I'll love you ‘til I die He was born to the south In Mexico they say The child of a man Who was soon gone away But his mother loved him dearly And she would take him yearly To the great cathedral in St. Augustine Oh my young Miguel Listen to the bell Of my poverty You must never tell And he cried himself to sleep in the night And he vowed to make things right So he took the gun down from the wall and he paid a call He knew she'd understand A lawman came to capture him The gun jumped in his hand Oh Miguel the mother cried You must run son or you'll die So the story is told Of his true love 'cross the line As strong as the oak And as sweet as the vine And the child she bore him Came on the fateful morning When they sent him to his final rest Oh my sweet Miguel Listen to the bell No one will ever know What I know too well Then she'd smile and lay the child on her breast And she'd say I have no fear I'm waiting for you to cross the border, to swim the river 'Cause you've done that before To see your true love's smiling face A hundred times or more Oh my sweet Miguel she cried I'll love you ‘til I die Link For online discussions about Gordon Lightfoot, his music and related topics http://www.corfid.com/ Link to Gordon Lightfoot website maintained by Wayne Francis http://www.lightfoot.ca/ Link to buy Gordon Lightfoot CD's http://www.bestprices.com/cgi-bin/vli...

Rag Mop - for Brob11 & his Boyz

Rag_Mop_-_for_Brob11_&_his_BoyzThis little slideshow is for my dear friend Bob (Brob11) and his "boyz". I thought these "smooth-coated" guys might get a kick out of seeing a video on the hairier members of the species. ;) The song is "Rag Mop" by The Ames Brothers, released in January, 1950 and 14 weeks on the charts, peaking at #1. Guest appearances by family pets: Penny, Barley, Jake and Cooper. Enjoy! ~~ Lynn xoxo

The Last Time I Saw Her

The_Last_Time_I_Saw_HerAnother incredible song in the Gordon Lightfoot Series. It's always interesting to find photos that depict the emotion and allow the viewer to experience the journey that the music and lyrics take us on. I'd like to publicly thank Tj (StonewallStudios) for always pushing me to make it that little bit better. I hope he never stops. ~~ Lynn Link to YouTube’s Thomasj157, the Lightfoot Tribute Channel http://ca.youtube.com/user/thomasj157 The Last Time I Saw Her (Did She Mention My Name) 5:10 The last time I saw her face, her eyes were bathed in starlight and her hair hung long The last time she spoke to me, her lips were like the scented flowers inside a rain-drenched forest But that was so long ago that I can scarcely feel the way I felt before And if time could heal the wounds, I would tear the threads away that I might bleed some more The last time I walked with her Her laughter was the steeple bells That ring to greet the morning sun A voice that called to everyone To love the ground we walked upon Those were the good days The last time I held her hand, her touch was autumn, spring and summer, and winter too The last time I let go of her, she walked away into the night I lost her in the misty streets, a thousand months, a thousand years When other lips will kiss her eyes A million miles beyond the moon, that's where she is But that was so long ago that I can scarcely feel the way I felt before And if time could heal the wounds, I would tear the threads away that I might bleed some more The last time I saw her face, her eyes were bathed in starlight and she walked alone The last time she kissed my cheek Her lips were like the wilted leaves Upon the autumn covered hills Resting on the frozen ground The seeds of love lie cold and still Beneath a battered marking stone It lies forgotten Link For online discussions about Gordon Lightfoot, his music and related topics http://www.corfid.com/ Link to Gordon Lightfoot website maintained by Wayne Francis http://www.lightfoot.ca/ Link to buy Gordon Lightfoot CD's http://www.bestprices.com/cgi-bin/vli...

Java Jive - for TheCoffeeHouse

Java_Jive_-_for_TheCoffeeHouseTheCoffeeHouse is expertly owned and operated by two of the nicest ladies on LV, CH1 and CH2, our favorite baristas. They make their rounds, watching vids and delivering steaming cups of coffee or tea made just the way we like it! This is my thanks to them for brightening the days of so many LVidians. The song is "Java Jive" by the Ink Spots, (1940).

The Way I Feel

The_Way_I_FeelAnother beautiful, haunting song in the Lightfoot Series. This one stars the American Robin and the stately, majestic Oak Tree. Please stop by the YT Tribute Channel at http://ca.youtube.com/user/thomasj157 to see the videos not presented here. The Way I Feel (The Way I Feel) 3:02 The way I feel is like a robin Whose babes have flown to come no more Like a tall oak tree alone and cryin' When the birds have flown and the nest is bare Now a woman lord is like a young bird And the tall oak tree is a young man's heart Among his boughs you will find her nesting When the nights are cool she is warm and dry Your coat of green it will protect her Her wings will grow your love will too But all too soon your mighty branches Will cease to hold her and she'll fly from you Now the way I feel is like a robin Whose babes have flown to come no more Like a tall oak tree alone and cryin’ When the birds have flown and the nest is bare When the birds have flown and the nest is bare Link For online discussions about Gordon Lightfoot, his music and related topics http://www.corfid.com/ Link to Gordon Lightfoot website maintained by Wayne Francis http://www.lightfoot.ca/ Link to buy Gordon Lightfoot CD's http://www.bestprices.com/cgi-bin/vli...

Pearls On A Chain

Pearls_On_A_ChainThis beautiful song was written by Olivia Newton-John and Canada's Amy Sky and is based on the First Chakra, Sacred Truth: "All Is One". It is a beautiful reminder that we are all "pearls on a chain". *********** Every living thing on this earth has a heart Every little thing that I am so you are And if you look in my eyes You will see we are souls alike We are pearls We are pearls We are pearls on a chain Every day my sunrise will dawn where you are Every night we sleep underneath the same star And if we stand face to face We will see love's amazing grace We are pearls We are pearls We are pearls on a chain

Same Old Loverman

Same_Old_LovermanWhen I heard this song the very first time, Elvis came to mind. I asked a few others and once again, Elvis was the first person to pop into their heads too, so, Elvis it is! Same Old Loverman (Songbook) 3:21 I'm not some long lost someone Just dropped in to say hello It's that same old lover man Baby you lost so long ago 'Cause I was born to believe I never could deceive Believe me I hear no children's voices Have they gone back to school And that same old lover man Is still acting like a fool I guess I was born to bring you grief Though I never was a thief Believe me It's cold outside your window Please let me in, the night is wild It's that same old lover man Not some lonesome winsome child An' I was born to believe I never could deceive Link For online discussions about Gordon Lightfoot, his music and related topics http://www.corfid.com/ Link to Gordon Lightfoot website maintained by Wayne Francis http://www.lightfoot.ca/ Link to buy Gordon Lightfoot CD's http://www.bestprices.com/cgi-bin/vli...

Dreamland

DreamlandDreamland conjured images of a multiple marriage life. Who other than Elizabeth Taylor could guide us through the emotions of this song. This is another in the Gordon Lightfoot series, 46 of which can be viewed at the Gordon Lightfoot Tribute Channel http://ca.youtube.com/user/thomasj157. More to come! Dreamland (Endless Wire Album) 2:53 You come to me in times of need When you can't find anyone You seem to be much better off now There's a rainbow number one We could see life through the gutter then Till it caused my heart to break There was too much toil in dreamland And too much love to take Sometimes I remember when We were all dressed up in style I don't recall the gist of it all But you drove the young men wild You could wrap me around your finger Till it caused my heart to break There was too much toil in dreamland And too much love to take So if you need me near you Y' can do it if you choose There was too much toil in dreamland And too much love to lose Instrumental You make me do what you want me to do Then you run the rules on me You seem to be the wiser now Could it be you've been deceived Anytime you felt like tryin' You would cause my heart to break There was too much toil in dreamland And too much love to take So if you need me near you now You can do it if you choose There was too much toil in dreamland And too much love to lose

Angels In The Snow - for Amanda

Angels_In_The_Snow_-_for_AmandaThis one is for Amanda (amandahunter). I heard this beautiful song by Canada's Amy Sky two days ago and thought of Amanda immediately. I hope she likes it, and I hope she gets an opportunity to make "Angels In The Snow". Lots of love Amanda. ~~ Lynn xoxo Angels In The Snow -- by Amy Sky When the twilight hour is sparkling and the city’s all aglow, come with me my darling to the place we love to go. When the frost’s upon the window, there’s a tingle in your toes, to the fields of virgin white for Angels in the snow. Lying on the frozen ground, arms go up and legs go down. How it looks so perfect I don’t know. With the snowflakes all around feels like heaven’s reaching down to tell us here on earth we’re not alone. As the rooftops glisten and your cheeks turn to rose, we will lie in wonder making Angels in the snow. With the snowflakes all around feels like heaven’s reaching down telling us that we are not alone. The silver moon is shining on the winter world below. How she’ll smile to see us waving our hellos. And as each season passes, I will watch as your wings grow. I’ll always think of you this way, my Angel in the snow.

Elusive Butterfly

Elusive_ButterflyMother Nature must have used almost every ounce of blue on our skies and seas. So very few creatures can be called "true blue", that I had to make my "Elusive Butterfly of Love" the beautiful Morpho Peleides, more commonly known as the "Blue Morpho". It is joined by a few other spectacular species in this 1966 hit by Bob Lind.

Sing You Back To Me

Sing_You_Back_To_MeAs I read the comments left by military wives on some military videos, I realized that there is so much more to a soldier going off to fight. Life must go on on the homefront. Mothers become mother and father and vice versa, parents can't fill that void left by the departing child, children don't quite understand why their parent has gone. In many cases, the person that returns to them is drastically changed - sometimes physically, sometimes mentally, sometimes both. Families struggle to find their way back to the life they knew. My wish for them is the time and patience and love to make it happen. Sing You Back To Me I’d like to write a song, a sweet and simple thing And if I do it right, it’d be the only one I’d sing ‘cause it would bring me everything I need A song that I could sing you back to me Sing you back, bring you back A miracle of page and pen You’d hear it and be here again And always and forever there would be A song that I could sing you back to me There must be a million words and all I have to do Is lay my heart upon those rare and magic few Why can’t it be as easy as it seems A song that I could sing you back to me Sing you back, bring you back A miracle of page and pen You’d hear it and be here again And always and forever there would be A song that I could sing you back, bring you back, A song that I could sing you back to me

The River And The Highway

The_River_And_The_HighwayThis hauntingly beautiful, little-known song by Pam Tillis was perfect to showcase some of this continent's spectacular rivers and highways. The River And The Highway She follows the path of least resistance. She doesn't care to see the mountain top. She twists and turns with no regard to distance. She never comes to a stop. And she rolls, she's a river. Where she goes, time will tell. Heaven knows, he can't go with her. And she rolls, all by herself. All by herself. He's headed for a single destination. He doesn't care what's standing in his path. He's a line between two points of separation. He ends just where it says to on the map. And he rolls, he's a highway. Where he goes, time will tell. Heaven knows, she can't go with him. And he rolls, all by himself. All by himself. And every now and then, he offers her a shoulder. And every now and then, she overflows. And every now and then, a bridge crosses over. It's a moment that every lover knows. And she rolls (and he rolls), she's a river (he's a highway). Where she goes (where he goes), time will tell (time will tell). Heaven knows, she can't go with him (he can't go with her). And she rolls, all by herself. And he rolls, all by himself. Fare thee well.

Get Here

Get_HereA beautiful song written by Brenda Russell and performed by American Idol's Justin Guarini, runner up to Kelly Clarkson. It's full of sentiment and images just begging to be seen, and I couldn't resist! Get Here (if you can) You can reach me by railway, you can reach me by trailway You can reach me on an airplane, you can reach me with your mind You can reach me by caravan, cross the desert like an Arab man I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can You can reach me by sailboat, climb a tree and swing rope to rope Take a sled and slide down snow, into these arms of mine You can jump on a speedy colt, cross the border in a blaze of hope I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can There are hills and mountains between us Always something to get over If I had my way, then surely you would be closer I need you closer You can windsurf into my life, take me up on a carpet ride You can make it in a big balloon, but you better make it soon You can reach me by caravan, cross the desert like an Arab man I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can I don't care, I don’t care, I need you right here right now I need you right here, right now, right by my side (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah) I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can.

Alhambra

AlhambraThis piece of music, “Memories of Alhambra” by Francisco Tarrega, is played here by Canadian, Manfred Harter, whom I have had the pleasure to meet and who has played many wonderful arrangements for me. I knew nothing of the Alhambra, but as was the case with a previous piece of Manfred’s music, “Mystery of Tikal”, I wanted to know what it was that attracted him to this piece. The Alhambra is a palace and fortress complex in southern Spain. It sits on a hilly terrace on the southeastern border of the city of Granada. Once the residence of the Muslim kings of Granada and their court, it was designed to reflect the very beauty of Paradise itself, with its gardens, fountains, streams, palace, and a mosque, all inside a fortress wall. It is now one of Spain's major tourist attractions and on my "Bucket List" -- those special things to see or do before I die. ;)

Summertime Dream

Summertime_DreamSummertime Dream by Gordon Lightfoot is my first of what will be a series of video tributes to this amazing Canadian artist. Additional videos by the tribute team can be viewed at YouTube on the channel "Thomasj157". Summertime Dream - 1976 (Summertime Dream) Where the road runs down by the butternut grove To old Bill Skinner's stream Do tell at the noonday bell It's time for a summertime dream In a lunch pail town in a one horse way You can live like a king and queen Let's steal away in the noonday sun It's time for a summertime dream Birds in all creation will be twittering in the trees And down below's a pond I know, you can swim in it if you please And if you come 'round when the mill shuts down You can see what chivalry means Let's steal away in the noonday sun It's time for a summertime dream On a trip on down to wonderland, in love among the flowers Where time gets lost with no straw boss, tallying up the hours Where the road runs down by the butternut grove To old Bill Skinner's stream Do tell at the noonday bell It's time for a summertime dream Birds in all creation will be twittering in the trees And down below's a pond I know, you can swim in it if you please And if you come 'round when the mill shuts down You can see what chivalry means Let's steal away in the noonday sun It's time for a summertime dream
